EXHIBITION OPENING NOVEMBER 10TH 2012
1 pm - 5 pm
This November at Van Dop Gallery, Carole Arnston presents an inspiring collection of new works in her annual solo exhibition curated by gallery owner Trudy Van Dop. The exhibition tellingly titled Red Zephyr is made up of dramatic and dynamic, abstracted floralscapes in the usual style of this enigmatic artist.
Carole Arnston is a nationally recognized artist and one of the West Coast's most prolific painters. In Red Zephyr Arnston has brought to life her experiences of hiking the West Coast Mountain trails where autumn winds sweep through the natural surroundings; shifting shadows and light, as the last breath of life before winter's still and quiet. The paintings in this series captivate the senses with the uncanny reference to the powerful and changing influence of energy on the environment. One cannot help but be drawn into the energy in Arnston's painting - vigorous brushstrokes breathe life into the cohesive pallete that is punctuated by bursts of vibrant, uninhibited colour. Known for her expressive style, Arnston continually takes on new inspiration from the beauty of the natural world and seamlessly translates the experience into a new sensory encounter.
Arnston, who exhibits her work in galleries and collections all over North America, is represented by the Van Dop Gallery. Her annual exhibition in the New Westminster gallery space is an opportunity for viewers to experience her work in an intimate setting. The Van Dop Gallery is a unique gallery experience housed in a renovated heritage home in one of BC's oldest neighborhoods. The artwork is displayed throughout the home allowing the audience to envision the work as if it were hanging on their own walls.
