Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art is thrilled to announce our 30th year anniversary!
In honour of this tremendous achievement, Newzones will unveil a monumental group exhibition, 11,104 Days: From Artists to Zenith, opening Thursday, November 24, 2022.
This thoughtful and meticulously curated exhibit will display each of Newzones’ rep-resented artists, including spectacular new work created by gallery artists in celebration of this milestone. Additionally, viewers can expect to take in exceptional work by international blue chip artists including Charles Arnoldi, Ross Bleckner, Jack Bush (1909-1977),Dan Christensen (1942-2007), Alex Katz, William Perehudoff (1918-2013), Julian Schnabel, as well as significant artworks held in theprivate collections of founders / directors Helen Zenith and Tamar Zenith.
Newzones continues to carry a powerful voice in the international art community, and has played a leading role in the advancementof contemporary art in Calgary, Canada and abroad. From the beginning, Newzones’ mandate has been to introduce and promoteits Canadian artists not only in Calgary and Canada, but on the international art stage. An important and esteemed establishment inthe visual arts landscape, Newzones remains committed to the development and enhancement of the visual arts, and is very proudof the gallery’s impact over its 30 years, in making Canadian art a strong and stable contributor in the international art market. This has been achieved through dedicated and meaningful art fair participation, and just as importantly, through the nurturing of stead-fast relationships with collectors, institutions, art professionals, and art enthusiasts all around the globe.
Over the course of 30 years, Newzones has showcased over 300 exhibitions that continue to educate, stimulate, and inspire. Newzones’ artists are held in the collections of premier museums including National Gallery of Canada, Art Gallery of Ontario, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Glenbow Museum, Remai Modern, Vancouver Art Gallery, Metropolitan Museum, NYC, MOMA, NYC, Hirshhorn, WA, and Tel Aviv Museum, Israel, to name a few, as well as private collections world-wide.Newzones is delighted to celebrate this milestone in the city of Calgary. Now, as we cast ourgaze forward, we continue to reimagine a “west” that is unwavering, resilient, and strong. A “west” where contemporary artists live, work, and play while producing world-class art.
