Studio XYZ is pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition A Question, Art or Algorithm. This exhibition will present work by six local and international artists - Anastasiia Vorobiova, Ash Huse, Kate Macdonald, Krystal Charlston, Olena Krevenets, and Sierra MacTavish, curated by guest curator Lin Li.
The first year after the great pandemic, 2023, we witnessed that an AI-generated image created with DALL-E 2 won the World Photography Organization's Sony World Photography Awards. In an era characterized by the speedy and expansive evolution of Artificial Intelligence, the art world faces a new paradigm defined by both challenges and opportunities. A Question, Art or Algorithm, offers an opportunity to revisit the dynamic relationship between artistic expression and the forefronts of science and technology, with a particular focus on the recent development of artificial intelligence, and invites the visitors to enter a realm where seven artists use digital tools as brushes to depict the view of themselves and the world.
Much like the artists of the 1970s who grasped the significance of the Information Revolution and its introduction of transformative mediums 1, algorithms and artificial intelligence now stand as distinct creative modalities within our present epoch. Regardless of the ambivalent, human-centric attitudes taken by the mainstream capitalism society towards the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence, the interplay between algorithms, artificial intelligence, and artistic expression comprises a complex terrain that beckons investigation, inviting the audience to engage in contemplation as they unravel the multifaceted implications thereof. This exhibition will last from September 6th to 28th. An opening ceremony will be held at 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Artists will be present.
