Produced for the U of L Art Gallery, curator Andrew Hunter will explore dominant ideas of Canada and reflect on the persistence in the Canadian psyche of the idealized landscape in "And yet we still remain". The exhibition will combine Lisa Hirmer’s straight forward photographs of dirt piles – the sizable mounds of earth, stone, and vegetation that are informally piled next to every construction site – with iconic landscape imagery from the U of L collection such as paintings by Lucius O’Brien, members of the Group of Seven, and Homer Watson.
