Anabelle Marquis, "Legende," mixed media on canvas, 60" x 40".
The much anticipated second solo exhibition of new works by Annabelle Marquis at West End Gallery in Victoria has arrived! A Montreal based artist who studied Fine Arts at C.E.G.E.P. St-Laurent (College) and Graphic Arts at C.E.G.E.P. Ahuntsic Annabelle worked successfully as a graphic designer until she held her first solo exhibition in 2006. Her search for greater artistic freedom proved hugely successful and demonstrated her vibrant youth alongside her artistic maturity. Annabelle's approach to painting is deeply tied to colour and composition and her works, which combine collage with paint, are simultaneously crystalline and organic. Creating a dynamic interaction of form, colour and texture she paints spontaneous and magnetic abstracts as well as striking figures including: majestic lions, elegant koi and dramatic bulls. Her modern approach to painting has captivated and delighted both new and experienced collectors who now eagerly follow her progress as she makes her mark on contemporary Canadian art.
