Carla Lam favours creative mark making, and letting the process inform the subject. For Carla, capturing the 'elusive impulse of life in the worlds around and within us' in the language of paint, results in abstracted landscapes that contain colours and textures that are emotionally evocative.

Artist Statement

This body of work reflects the transient nature of all things material. Waters evaporate and reabsorb into earth in a never-ending process of migration and transformation. Bridging literal and figurative oceans, these works balance perception and reality, stemming from a world in flux through a constant process of the intra-action of elements only seemingly distinct.
