Join us at the Campbell River Art Gallery on Friday, March 31 for the opening of Derya Akay's solo exhibition with bread,. Doors will open at 6 pm with an artist talk at 6:30 pm.
The exhibition title is derived from the word “company” inferring the “breaking of bread” or the presence of bread as a material and performative component to a social exchange. This exhibition is made possible with the support of SAHA Association, as well as exhibition sponsor, Flooring Canada.
Imbued with Akay’s all-encompassing practice, the exhibition draws from his time as visiting artist from August 28 - September 3, 2016. During his time in Campbell River Akay created a temporary installation where he hosted a dinner party which served as research for this exhibition. This research project was generously supported by Canada Council for the Arts.
