Like drawing and want some ideas on how to improve your drawing skills? Join this introductory drawing course. It may be easier than you think! If you would like to get some insights on drawing, join our workshop and learn some helpful tips. You’ll be surprised how quickly your drawings will improve just by following a few easy techniques. All you need are some pencils, paper, and enthusiasm.
Content covered: Pencil shading techniques - cross hatching, blending, rendering, random lines, and contour lines. Importance of lighting-sculpting with light and shadow - Difference between line and tonal drawing, with examples. Areas of shadow - highlight, body tone, halftone, turning edge, shadow core, body shadow, reflected light, cast shadow. Basic shapes: sphere, cube, pyramid, column. Proportions, scaling, plumb line, scaling using pencil as guide, scaling using grids, scale using objects in composition, and use of negative space. Figure drawing techniques: stick figures, mannequin frame, block structuring, gestures, action line. Proportion: basic human anatomy, facial structure, proportions, profiles, features.
Materials required: Drawing pad, HB pencil, 1B pencil, 4H pencil, eraser, kneaded eraser, Kleenex, Q-tips or blending stump, and a couple of images you might like to draw.
