The Maker’s Dozen Residency at Sparrow Artspace. It includes the Earring Edition exhibition, artists’ demonstrations and talks, and workshops. Featured artists: Ashleigh Amber Moore, Barb Temple, Bramble Lee Pryde, Christine Pedersen, Cherry Deacon, Devon Clark, Jennea Frischke, Kari Woo, Melissa Pedersen, Melissa Victor, Sarah Whalen Lunn, Shona Rae, and Stephanie Elderfield.
We welcome you to check out the Sparrow Artspace during our residency, as we transform the space into a vibrant hub for jewellery creation, exhibition, and education. See what a fully equipped jeweller’s studio is like, chat with the artists at work, register for a jewellery making workshop, and meet the artists at the exhibition opening.
As artists, we are driven by a shared vision to create a vibrant community among jewelers in Calgary. Recognizing the absence of a public metalsmith studio where creators can unite to exchange ideas and resources, we embarked on a journey to establish a collective.
Our collective is a convergence of diverse talents, brought together through outreach efforts and social media. Our mission is to cultivate a space where jewelry artists can flourish creatively, share expertise, and collaborate. We believe that by fostering a sense of camaraderie, we can enrich our individual practices and elevate our craft.
We aim to demystify the art of jewelry making and inspire others to explore their creativity and gain appreciation for the craft. Inclusivity lies at the heart of our ethos, as we celebrate the rich tapestry of techniques and mediums embraced by our members.
From traditional goldsmithing, beading and experimental metalwork, each artist brings a unique perspective to our collective. Together, we are forging a dynamic community where innovation thrives, and boundaries are pushed. We are hoping that this will spark future collaborations amongst the collective.
