Doug and I are excited to announce the opening of our Fall Exhibit, starting on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
This time the Main Gallery displays work by Susan Loudon and the White Rabbit Room features the work of Doug Rowed.
The artworks from Susan cover the years 1995-2022 and are created using various media from paint to cardboard, twigs, wood and glass. The relationships in love & loss, pain and joy are expressed, as well as magical worlds and text based meanderings.
In "Grandma’s Gift,” foggy memories swirl around a lively, busy fairground. The flurry of fun flavours the painting, which centres around a magical blurry dollhouse, and a circus-like atmosphere. With the promise of a purchased raffle ticket, the anticipation and excitement is colourfully crafted and captures the feeling of being absorbed by an experience as a child.
With "Levels of Probability," a seaside scene depicts calculations and formulas to achieve results in six categories of Life… but there are also electrical lines, fragile glass beakers and too tall ladders. Unpredictable weather and wobbly sign installers intimate that nothing is so sure in life!
For Doug, in the White Rabbit Room, a complete departure from his last painting show is on for your enjoyment. Re-invented found objects suggest thought provoking messages. One large painting also allows some contemplation on symbolism. No sneak peek this time.. you’ll have to come by and see this room for yourself!
We hope to see you soon ~ one Saturday afternoon!
