Fraser Brinsmead was born in the small community of Lac la Biche to a physician father and musically gifted mother. In 1956 the family moved to Edmonton, and Fraser’s love for music and art began to emerge. Fraser's first glimpse of the “big city" affected him quite deeply; retaining those feelings of awe, his passion for art and music parlayed into an architectural career spanning over three decades. Architecture has been described as "frozen music" and "bringing form into the light," themes that inspire Fraser's paintings - familiar scenes into which the viewer is compelled to join in, hear the sounds, feel the crowd, breathe the smells and experience the light.

West End Gallery presents Iconic Hotels of Western Canada, a Solo Exhibition of new work by Edmonton artist Fraser Brinsmead. This special collection includes the Hotel Macdonald, the Empress, and Chateau Lake Louise among other iconic hotels of British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
