From Ship to Shore: Marine Paintings
to
Uno Langmann Gallery 2117 Granville St, Vancouver, British Columbia V6H 3E9
19th and 20th century artists set out to capture the adventure and excitement of life at sea with their detailed paintings of sailing ships on the open water and coming into port.
Marine pictures were used as records of life at sea and were often done for the captain of the ship in commemoration. Artists included in this exhibition are Samuel Walters, Abraham Hulk, Carl Frederik Sorensen, John Hammond, P.C. Dommersen, Haughton Forest and unsigned China Coast paintings. Showing alongside this exhibition is a selection of objets d’art, and antiques from Europe and North America.
