Featuring the work of six recent University of Manitoba Bachelor of Fine Art graduates, GRADS: OFF THE SOFA showcases a wide range of mediums including photography, glass, ceramics, and painting. Scotland Cook, Madelyn Gowler, Bronwyn Lutz-Greenhow, Netsanet Shawl, Morgan Traa and Bill Younger each draw upon their personal lived experiences to explore the issues facing contemporary society and to dream of a better future. Common themes include environmentalism, mass consumption, and life under late capitalism.
Initially these works were exhibited as part of the School of Art’s 2022 BFA Honours Exhibition. This show unites these artworks once again, but this time in a different environment. The Graffiti Gallery is pleased to support these emerging artists as they transition from the academic context to the wider art world.
