Da Kų Cultural Centre 280 Alaska Highway, Haines Junction, PO Box 5310, Haines Junction, Yukon Y0B 1L0
The Junction Artist-in-Residence (JAR) Program announces a Call for Artists for its 3rd residency term.
The JAR Program invites professional fashion and textile artists to participate in a three-month residency between July - October, 2020. We will select one artist-in-residence for this term.
The selected artist will be immersed in the community of Haines Junction, Yukon— in the heart of Kluane National Park and Reserve and on the Traditional Territory of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nation.
The artist will work with the program’s theme of ‘Sewing through the Landscape’, integrating their natural and cultural experiences in the Kluane region into a final collection of works.
This unique residency provides artistic challenges, cultural exchanges, community engagement and opportunity to work with diverse materials and resources specific to the region.
JAR offers various forms of support with regards to accommodation, travel, food stipends, and presentation honorariums, and connects the artist to local sources of knowledge. We also offer a monthly artist stipend which contributes to material or residency related costs.
