Meet new Gallery Executive Director Vicky Chainey Gagnon
Everyone is welcome at the Campbell River Art Gallery Friday, July 28 at 6 p.m. for the opening of a fascinating new exhibition by a group of eight contemporary artists – and an opportunity to meet the Gallery’s new Executive Director Vicky Chainey Gagnon.
The exhibition, tantalizingly named Hot Dog Car Wash, will present the work of artists from a wide variety of locales – from Quadra Island to Vancouver, Toronto, Tehran and Creighton, Saskatchewan. Hot Dog Car Wash explores the notion of a roadside attraction – a feature along the side of a road, meant to attract visitors. These are places one might stop on the way to somewhere else – rather than being a destination.
Hot Dog Car Wash features the works of Maya Beaudry, Lucien Durey, Katie Kozak, Chandra Melting Tallow, Alicia Nauta, Corie Waugh, Amy Wong and Hoda Zarbaf.
The opening reception will also feature an opportunity to meet Chainey Gagnon, the new Executive Director of the Campbell River Art Gallery. Chainey Gagnon joins the Gallery from The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery, in St. Johns’, Newfoundland and Labrador and is excited to work with the community of Campbell River.
Hot Dog Car Wash will be on exhibition at the Campbell River Art Gallery until Sept. 6. The Campbell River Art Gallery’s summer hours are Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
