In celebration of cSPACE’s newly opened creative hub, installations from fourteen contemporary artists will fill the expansive hallways of the historic King Edward School. I AM WESTERN, running June 30 - October 1 2017, is a postmodern interpretation of the cowboy and western genre; deconstructing, re-contextualizing, and modernizing the image of who we are with an eye and integrity to current realities.
Through a significant selection of large installations, performance and 2D work, handpicked artists including Terrance Houle, Heather Benning, Chris Cran, Lyndal Osborne, and Mitch Kern present their unique interpretations of a genre steeped in romanticism and tradition. I AM WESTERN seeks to continue the celebration of the West while being inclusive to a changing demography, landscape, economy and culture.
