Imaginary Borders represents new encaustic paintings from my Far Shore series. Atmospheric compositions of remembered and imaginary landscapes. The atmosphere and it’s layers of clouds and fog deconstruct the realistic landscape creating a color field of shifting sunlight and colors. The many translucent layers of the encaustic medium is the vehicle I use to capture and shift light and color within the painting’s surface.

The earth is a living breathing testament to change and adaptation over thousands of years. Extremes matter – drought, flooding, and human footprints. These paintings attempt to capture the sounds and energy of both land and sea that mock our efforts to map and contain.
