“You will have the opportunity to experience Adam’s personal account of the most expansive exhibition of his artwork shown to date. The Irretrievable Moment at The Reach is half of a two-part retrospective developed in partnership with the Surrey Art Gallery and brings together over 125 artworks by this artist. At this talk, Adams will share anecdotes, ideas, and insight into his long and accomplished career and comment on works from both exhibitions,” explains Laura Schneider, Executive Director & Curator at The Reach.
Jim Adams: The Irretrievable Moment is a two-part retrospective exhibition between the Surrey Art Gallery and The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford.
The first part of the exhibition at the Surrey Art Gallery will examine specific trajectories of Adams’ art production including his early book works and graphic arts, urban and suburban streetscapes, metaphysical landscapes, allegorical portraits, mythic sketches and aviation abstractions.
Focusing on his last two decades of artmaking, The Reach Gallery Museum will present a selection of Adams’ paintings and objects that combine imagery inspired by Classical and African myth and the visual language of science fiction.
