ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Keith Dalgleish was raised and educated in Alberta. He received a Bachelors Degree with Honours in Fine Art - Painting, from the Alberta University of the Arts, (ACAD), in Calgary. He has a Diploma in Dance from McEwan University , and a Certificate in Commercial Sign Painting from NAIT, both in Edmonton. Keith has had a number of juried solo and group fine art exhibitions in Alberta and British Columbia. Most recently he had the privilege of featuring his work at the Western Showcase Stampede in Calgary, Alberta. He received a Grant from the Canada Council for the Arts, and a number of his works have been purchased by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts for their Permanent Collection.
Throughout his twenties, Keith produced, choreographed and performed Modern Dance works, and created sets for the stage, primarily with the company, Thatside Independence, from Edmonton. A highlight was performing for the duration of Expo 86 in Vancouver. Keith is a teacher in both the Visual and the Performing Arts. Most notably he developed and taught a multi-disciplinary program entitled 'Creative Impulse' for the Alberta University of the Arts Continuing Education Program. Within the past two decades, Keith tried his hand at owning an art gallery and travelled to several countries. His biggest influence, however, was living on a small farm on the edge of the Porcupine Hills in Southern Alberta. Here he learned a new kind of creativity, from working with horses, gardening, and building and repairing what was required. All this has now led Keith to a harmonious place, dancing each day with canvas, paint, and beautiful birds.
