Victoria based artist Ken Faulks presents his fifth solo exhibition at West End Gallery. Born and raised in Victoria Ken’s affinity for the landscape is reflected in his depictions of it. A regular “en plein air” painter, his smaller panels are produced out on location in the places so familiar to him around southern Vancouver Island; back in the studio Ken references some of these smaller studies in larger paintings. Whether working in a small or large format Ken’s love of paint as a medium is evident. By building up each painting one small brushstroke at a time, Ken’s masterful touch transforms each piece from the abstract to the recognizable.
