Artist Bio:
I've always had an innate desire to make things. My parents always encouraged us to be creative, and I spent most of my childhood doing art projects, building forts and making movies in the woods behind our house. I was lucky enough to grow up in one of the most beautiful places in the world: the Canadian Rocky Mountains. I was born in Banff and raised in the neighbouring town of Canmore, Alberta. My connection to this landscape has greatly influenced my work as an artist and I'm always trying to capture the haunting beauty of The Rockies.
In 2007 I moved to Montreal where I received my BFA from Concordia University, graduating with distinction in Painting and Drawing. After eight years I moved back to my hometown where I now live and work as an artist. I paint primarily in acrylic on birch panel and my current body of work is made up of minimalist landscapes and monochromatic paintings of things you find in the woods. I'm interested in the ways the mountains are constantly concealing and revealing themselves through mist, cloud and storm and I can't help but be drawn to the misty and the moody.
Nationality is Canadian.
