Through this unique exhibit, artists Khrysta Lloren and Nine Kennedy examine how cultural idealizations alter and have an impact our how we understanding the representations of bodies and sexuality. Manipulating the space of The Ledge Gallery through the use of multimedia practices, sculpture, and performance, they will endeavour to capture the constant flux of identity. Invasion of Body Dysmorphia in The Ledge Gallery looks at the potential of gender subversion and queer theory to manipulate interactions in public and personal spaces.
“A collaborative piece, Invasion of Body Dysmorphia will act as a catalyst for us to engage each other in an experimental installation of queer identity, internal turmoil, and physical agitation,” say artists Lloren and Kennedy. “The project is a constantly transforming landscape embodying the dichotomy of deterioration and accretion.”
