Mike Keepness and Gordon Lewis use very different painting styles but come together on their shared interest in the diverse landscapes of Saskatchewan. These artists are of different cultural backgrounds and different generations but, as artists, informally mentor one another. Mike Keepness is a Saulteux/Plains Cree artist, who is interested in capturing the essence of the land, and the historical sites of his culture for future generations. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Gordon Lewis studied art at the University of Regina under distinguished Canadian artists Ted Godwin, Jack Cowin and Jack Sures. Lewis’s work reflects his prairie roots and his interest in the Saskatchewan environment.
