Salmon Arm Art Gallery is pleased to present Le7 Tmicw, an exhibition featuring 20 artists exploring acts of healing during this climate crisis. Le7 Tmicw is a Secwepemc word meaning good earth, and this exhibition aims to alleviate climate anxiety by providing hope that there are actions being carried out all over the world that are helping to heal the planet.
Exhibiting artists are Leilani Ambrose, Lex Bryson, Jennifer Chernecki, Lisa Figueroa, Linda Franklin, Hop You Haskett, Sarah Hope, Frieda Martin, Jose Narbona, Clea Roddick, Valerie Rogers, Mary Thomas, Gordon Wallace and members of Kamloops PrintMakers Society. It is among the goals of the Art Gallery to reduce the impact art-making has on the planet, and artists are encouraged to use biodegradable, low carbon impact or upcycled materials in their art production.
The exhibition opens on Saturday, July 8 at 11am, and everyone is welcome to enjoy refreshments and conversation with the artists. The Coffee Break and Artist Talk is on Thursday, July 20 at 2pm. Two special Family Saturdays featuring Kenthen Thomas will be on Saturday, July 22 and Saturday, August 12 at 1pm, with Kenthen sharing Secwepemc stories about the earth.
