Lori Zébière, "Morning Caller," nd
mixed media
Artist reception: Thursday, September 7 from 7 to 9 PM
A series of boldly coloured works created in response to the deafening flood of sensory and emotional overload that is drowning out our daily lives via social media and wireless communications. Through the use of nostalgic techniques and pastoral imagery Lori explores the idea of simpler times through themes of comfort, companionship, community, protection and rural life. Retreating to the past in order to ponder the future; she looks inward examine her own experiences and beliefs in an attempt to find harmony and balance in today’s world of increasing volume, conflicting points of view, alternative facts and information-noise.
Lori Zébière is a mixed media artist-craftsperson who works from her home based studio situated on a small acreage minutes from the quaint village of Garson, Manitoba. She enjoys experimenting with traditional and contemporary mediums, ancient skills and modern techniques. Her love of vibrant bold colour produces eye-popping contemporary works through paint, photography, digital manipulations and fibre to reflect on and explore our past, present and future relationships with animals and the environment.
