Northwest Coast First Nation artists have inherited an artistic legacy of breathtaking beauty and rich cultural meaning. The Inuit Gallery is pleased to offer a range of contemporary and vintage masks, carved and painted panels, rattles and other objects, as well as prints and paintings that carry this legacy into the present. This month we are spotlighting Northwest Coast paddles by artists such as Moy Sutherland, his apprentices Dawson Matilpi-Peel and Guy Louie; and senior carvers Bill Henderson and David Boxley. We have also received a spectacular bentwood box by David Boxley, and a series of panels by Nusmata (Jarrod Saunders), and Jim Charlie. If you are traveling to Vancouver this summer please let us know – we look forward to seeing you in our new gallery space!
