Only Entropy Comes Easy Poster
Opening Reception Thursday September 7, 6pm to 8pm
Entropy is a measurement of change, the decline from order to disorder, necessarily and constantly increasing. Chekhov’s existential quip “only entropy comes easy” positions our fear of mortality succinctly alongside the second law of thermodynamics.
The pieces in this exhibition distill narrative and the passage of time into static images or compositions. Stains, burns, drips, and rust infuse the artworks with a palpable sense of unavoidable disintegration, the inevitable effects of entropy.
