Open Studio Invitation

Every year that the emerging artists of the Open Studio program have an exhibition at The Fort Gallery marks an exciting time of growth in the work and lives of its partici-pants.

This year seven artists: Anita Bugden, June Burkholder, Karen Christensen, Trish Clark-Jennings, Wendy Jones, Yuri Grier and Rosemary Wallace have come to-gether under the mentorship of Betty Spackman to support each other in their journey as art makers. Please join them in celebrating their honed skills and expressed pas-sions. The Open Studio exhibit is at The Fort Gallery, September 20-October 8, 2017. Please join artists for the opening reception, Sunday, September 24th, 2-5pm.

The Open Studio program began in order to provide a nurturing environment for emerging artists. Individuals at all levels of their art practice who need moral support, technical help and honest, professional critique meet together in order to begin to develop or continue developing and exploring; their ideas, methods and materials.

Artists work with, and learn from, fellow emerging and professional artists in the com-munity, building a network of creative individuals who can support each other and per-haps find opportunities for collaborative projects and exhibitions.

Members share their ongoing artistic process, learning as much from each other as from the mentors, and have the opportunity at the end of each year to show their work in a group exhibition. Open Studio sessions are times of growth, inspiration, mutual support, hard work … and fun!
