Ken Lumbis, "Painted with Fire," invitiation

Having had the opportunity to see pit-fired pottery in galleries, Ken Lumbis became intrigued by the process, not only because of the colour development but also because it can be carried out in one’s backyard. The direction he wanted to pursue, however, was different from more frequently seen pit-fired pottery--one of a more painterly practice on ceramic panels.
