Paintings by Marla Blackwell, Lorri Pullman MacDonald and Judy Ueda
Living in rural Alberta, Marla Blackwell's artwork presents the pastoral vistas of farm and forest. Marla she's herself as a contemporary realist painter of landscapes. Her work is active with loose but succinct brush work, freedom of the paint is encouraged, a good understanding of colour binds the process.
Lorri Pullman-MacDonald lives in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies and the breathtaking mountain scenery is her favourite subject matter. Mountain light is ever changing and a challenge to paint. Known for her colour this landscape painter brings precision and attention to detail to her craft.
Native Calgarian Judy Ueda lived in Japan for 15 years, this has given her a unique perspective and a response to the Alberta landscape with a feeling of being home. Judy is motivated by the vastness and solitude of the prairies; there is stillness and peacefulness yet there is also dynamic movement and change. The aim for her paintings is to capture the fundamental essence of the prairie landscape and sky simplified into its basic elements.
