Scott Gallery is pleased to present two exhibitions opening July 9: Totems, paintings by Pat Service and Penumbra, paintings by Marianne Watchel.

Opening Reception July 9, 2016 1 pm - 4 pm. (Artists present.)

For this show, the work of each artist occupies a separate axis of the gallery to respect difference and to respect the equality of effect of these paintings.

Both Watchel and Service are skilled artists with years of experience making paintings. Paintings whose principal features never occlude the experience of viewing the works in their entirety. Watchel refers to “the incident” and of Service, Milne’s “dazzle spot” is another term: locations in the territory of a painting from which engagement ensues.
