Sunzen Art Gallery is pleased to announce the November 22nd opening of its latest exhibition, Twin Wings to the Glory, by celebrated contemporary Gongbi painting master, Ren Zhong. This carefully curated 38-piece art collection is free to the public, and offers a tranquil escape from busy city life.
Ren operates in a unique way. Viewing the creation of art as a manifestation of the sacred, he paints with a hair-thin brush, patiently constructing meticulous outlines to capture the exquisite beauty, and historic spiritual symbolism, of nature. Inspired by the Song Dynasty, Ren’s work has been recognized globally, with artworks displaying at notable international art fairs, including Art Basel and Masterpiece London, a charity exhibition at Casa Natale di Leonardo da Vinci in Italy, as well as Sotheby’s Beijing. This is Ren’s first Canadian showing, at Sunzen Art Gallery’s first international gallery space.
“Ren Zhong is an amazing artist and an earnest friend. His investigation into traditional techniques, observation of nature, and devotion to cultural history make him a national treasure in the modern era. We are delighted and honoured to present Ren Zhong’s first exhibition in Canada, as well as the grand opening exhibition of Sunzen’s international space.”
Founded in Qingdao, China, in 2002, Sunzen opened the doors to their Vancouver location last year. Their aim is to showcase Chinese art and cultural artifacts, both in collaboration with esteemed Chinese creators, and through the production of their own traditional rosewood furniture. A visit to Sunzen Art Gallery goes beyond just viewing art; Sunzen offers a cultural experience, including traditional Chinese tea and community discussions.
