In the past year the Alternator Centre for Contemporary art has been a very exciting place to be. Busier than ever, it has become a hive of activity and change - change in new board members, new staff and of course the exciting new Members' Gallery. This year we would like to embrace this change and showcase the possibilities stemming from the reflection on and revision of previous accomplishments and works. As our members are an essential part of this growth, we invite you to participate in this experience with us through our 2012 Annual Members' Exhibition : Revision.
Although "revision" can be accompanied with it's own challenges, it is also an ideal opportunity to reflect on our past successes, reassess our future goals and inject a fresh perspective into our practice. Through this exhibition, we aim to draw on the excitement and energy of change and embrace its ability to fuel creativity and reinvention. Thus the "revision" process breaths new life into art as it has into our gallery.
Artists works may take on many forms, from the re-purposing of a preconceived piece of art, an old piece that is given a new context or a new piece designed around the reflection of previous works or concepts. Although there is much room for interpretation, the main purpose of this exhibition is to explore the process of reflection, change and revision. The exhibition will run from November 9th to December 7th 2012 and the installation dates will be November 6th, 7th and 8th.
We look forward to celebrating this new artistic venture of building on the past to make way for an exciting new future. See you at the members' show.
