Romantic Nature: European Landscapes
to
Uno Langmann Gallery 2117 Granville St, Vancouver, British Columbia V6H 3E9
In the late 18th and early 19th centuries Landscape painters became influenced by the Romantic movement circulating throughout Europe; although it was not a cohesive movement it was generally marked by creative explorations of emotions, irrational thought, and personal experience
As a result, this romantic approach to Landscape painting rejected many traditional methods of art instruction and relied instead upon the artists’ intuitive response to the observable world.
This exhibition includes works by Peder Monsted, Jose Weiss, James Wilson Carmichael, Paul Desire Trouillebert, Arnold Marc Gorter, and Maurice Levis.
