SNAP invites members & guests to the opening reception of SMILING PILE, a solo exhibition by Amery Sandford in the Main Gallery August 23rd, 2019 7-9pm.
Please join us for an artist's talk at 6pm in the Printshop.
In her presentation, Amery will discuss the journey that led her to the work in SMILING PILE and the themes of public understanding of history and identity that arise in the exhibition. She will also cover the trajectory of her artistic career and will be open to answering any questions regarding how to sustain yourself as an emerging artist.
This talk is free and open to the public. No RSVP is necessary.
SMILING PILE is a compilation of screen prints and lithographs that explore the fabrication of manicured spaces used for the purpose of leisure or entertainment. Moving away from the editioned print and developing new compositions on paper during the printing process, this work strives to capture fleeting moments within constructed spaces that elicit cuteness, humour, or absurdity.
