Beaton's third solo exhibition, Through My Eyes is a collection of paintings created using a variety of styles. Some of the paintings are simple city scapes that are created using a palette knife and acrylic paint. Others are more complex, using different mediums and techniques to create interesting, textured abstracts.
Lee Beaton lives in Portage la Prairie and has studied art under the guidance of several artists. Art training includes intensive drawing with pastel, charcoal & coloured pencils, watercolour & acrylic painting, portraiture and image transfer.
Lee has participated in member shows at the Portage & District Arts Centre, The Piano Nobile Gallery at the Centennial Concert Hall and at cre8ery gallery & studio in the main gallery as well as in the Auxiliary Gallery and has submitted artwork in the Central Region Juried Art Exhibition since 2007. She is an active member of the Prairie Ripples Art Tour and has organized artist events held at Island Park, the Free Art Show in Morden and the Meshing Creative Diversity Art Show held in Portage la Prairie. Lee shares her time between her home studio and a studio at cre8ery gallery & studio in Winnipeg. She teaches a basic acrylic class and watercolour class as well as palette knife techniques workshop at PDAC.
Current projects include upcoming solo exhibition at cre8ery in April 2015, a group exhibition at PDAC in October 2015, a solo exhibition of portraits. Lee is also participating in RAMP-Central with Mentor Barb Flemington and working on an arts smarts project with Portage Ukrainian Nursery School.
