Acclaimed artist, playwright and director, Travis is an Indigenous painter from the Ojibway Nation. Born in 1978 in Rama, Ontario, he is the youngest of two sons to the acclaimed Indigenous artist Arthur Shilling. Growing up immersed in his father's artistic world, Travis experienced the beauty and power of art from a young age. Sadly, his father passed away when he was only seven, but Arthur’s legacy and creative spirit remained a guiding force. Over time, Travis found his way back into his father’s studio, where he began to shape his own unique artistic vision, blending inspiration from his heritage with a style all his own.
We are proud to welcome Travis to the gallery and hope you enjoy his powerful narrative compositions. His strong colour palette and rendering of spirits in his work is uniquely his own.
