The images in this exhibition reflect both the grief and violence of war, and the vitality of contemporary Ukrainian visual culture. There are lush still life studies, evocative watercolour views of the countryside at dusk, and layered meditations on the transformation of Mariupol from a splendid and thriving metropolis to dark and shattered ruins. Throughout are the faces and figures of a people weighted with sorrow and animated by devotion to one another and to the country they love.
