"My goal as a landscape artist is to have the opportunity to sit down and free my intuition to paint en plein-air. The light and portable watercolours are one of the few mediums that allows me to do this when hiking through the back country..." Heine
Born in Edmonton in 1937, Jerry Heine studied art at the University of Alberta. He is a past signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, and has current signature status with the Northwest Watercolor Society, USA, and with the Alberta Society of Artists.
In 1990 Jerry began working as a full time artist and Sessional Art Instructor at the University of Alberta, Department of Extension. In addition, he has curated art exhibitions, taught community art workshops, did art critiques and adjudicated numerous art exhibitions.
As a landscape and floral painter who does much of his sketching on location, Jerry uses strong contrasting values and dynamically merges abstract patterns into his representational compositions. In his 30 year career as a watercolorist, Jerry has participated in over 25 solo exhibitions across Canada.
