I think of each one of us as a collection of stories; a unique combination of experiences that make us who we are. How we choose to relay those experiences helps to define us as individuals.
Over the years I have gathered a small collection of found objects. Some are beautiful art pieces on their own with a sculptural quality; others are curious pieces to a puzzle that I need to solve. By putting these objects together and creating a new backdrop through collage and assemblage I have created narratives that speak to my own experiences in my childhood and on.

Each item that I incorporate into the artwork has it’s own message, but while I am respectful of its history I take some liberties in re-contextualizing its meaning by building my own story. The idea that some objects will induce a collective memory while others will invoke varying emotions in different viewers is always intriguing to me. Just as with each new experience a memory can be altered and given new weight, every element that is added into these artworks will change the piece as a whole and therefore give a new ending to the story.
I think of these mixed media pieces as attempts to communicate my own collection of stories in the form of a visual diary. No longer is it just about where I’m coming from, but also where I’m going.
