Lynn Valley Main Library 1277 Lynn Valley Road, North Vancouver, British Columbia V7J 2P2
Opening Reception: Saturday, June 6, 2-4pm
With an emphasis on the surreal versus the real; solid versus mysterious, Yue Baoyu’s paintings encapsulate many themes. Baoyu paintings are made up of mostly realist figurative elements, creating portraits with intriguing multi-element backgrounds. The fragmented perspective aims to invite multiple interpretations.
Yue Baoyu is a realist and representational painter. Baoyu combines modern and postmodern concepts to create images inspired by both the Eastern and Western art languages. Elements of Renaissance and Chinese ancient scrolls, abstract, surrealist and symbolic elements, digital influence and micro-macro transformations are seen in the work.
Yue Baoyu graduated from the Fine Art programme at Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in 2014.
