Located in a 1902 heritage building in the historic downtown district, Nelson's only public museum and archives offers a friendly atmosphere in a state-of-the-art facility. Visitors will learn about the region’s history back in time and up to the arrival of settlers and industry growth. The museum is one of only two organizations in Canada to house a permanent installation of Jaime Black’s The REDress Project and also features one of the few Cold War Bunkers open to the public. The two art galleries (2000 sq/ft) present award-winning exhibitions with important artists from across the country. A gift shop features over 120 local artists. Tues to Sat 10 am - 4 pm, Thurs until 8 pm.
