Hugette de Montagny was the subject of a portrait painting called The Ski Patroller by E. H. Holgate which was sold at auction in May 2011 as reported in the Fall/Winter 2011 issue of Galleries West.
Madame de Montagny, now 83 years young and still active in her real estate business near Montreal, had been apprised of the article by Heffell Fine Art Auctions and called today to request a copy of the Fall/Winter 2011 issue.
I was pleased to oblige and enjoyed chatting with her and learning that her parents had been friends with Mr. Holgate. The title of the painting was her idea simply because she was wearing her ski patrol jacket. She was pleasantly surprised at the amount fetched by the painting.
