FROM THE OUTER EDGES
From the Outer Edges features landscape paintings of three remote national parks by Whitehorse artist Jane Isakson. A former Olympic athlete in biathalon, Isakson visited Gwaii Haanas in the Pacific Northwest, Ivvavik in Yukon and Gros Morne in Newfoundland seeking to represent the dynamism of the land. “Regardless of the presence of various populations over time, these are not conquered or tamed places,” says Isakson. Yet by emphasizing the land’s forms and geometric patterns, Isakson implies an underlying order in nature.
