After installing 14 commissioned public works in Edmonton’s new Mazankowski Heart Institute, in collaboration with poet Stuart Adams, painter Jim Davies returns to landscape with his new show at Scott Gallery in Edmonton May 29 to June 15. An instructor in fine arts at the University of Alberta, Davies’ acrylics and watercolours reflect places that combine qualities of familiarity and mystery. It’s as if these places were created from fragmented memories.
