Blame It On the Rain, an exhibition by Toronto-born Julia Dault, shows her efforts to balance spontaneous gesture with rules, logic and material constraints. The show features both textured paintings and improvised sculptures. Dault, who is based in New York, is interested in how making embodies thinking, and reinserts the artist’s hand into a minimal aesthetic that often involves industrial materials.
