Erudition January 15 to March 6, 2011, Southern Alberta Art Gallery, Lethbridge

Kelly Richardson’s new three-channel video installation,Erudition, opens on an alien landscape, where lush trees grow out of a wrinkled desert, and move statically in the wind. Opening at Lethbridge’s Southern Alberta Art Gallery January 15 to March 6, the work was created as part of a 2009 residency at SAAG’s Gushul Studio in the Crowsnest Pass. Known for works that populate natural landscapes with eerie special-effects interventions, Richardson has exhibited at the Sundance Film Festival, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden at the Smithsonian.
