Ken Christopher presents abstract and plein air paintings from the last five decades, including scenes from Saskatchewan’s scenic Qu’Appelle Valley in his first show in 15 years. Christopher was born in Swift Current, Sask., and studied at the Alberta College of Art in Calgary. He has subsisted as a painter for most of his life and, after various adventures, moved back in 1996 to the Prairies, which he calls his “first and last love.” His paintings include images of a buffalo jump used before the arrival of horses. “A spring bubbles out of the ground 20 feet below the rim, with a canopy of birch and aspen,” says Christopher. “I don’t want to leave every time I go there.”
