Art Bank database
The Canada Council Art Bank is a treasure trove of more than 17,000 works of outstanding contemporary art from across Canada.
The Council has recently digitized the collection and redesigned the website, making the art works more accessible than ever to Canadians and to the world.
Visitors can explore online galleries curated by the Art Bank’s art consultants, or create and share their favourites and more.
The Art Bank also runs loans and outreach programs, bringing the work into public places and offices across the country. More information at artbank.ca.
The digitization of the Art Bank’s vast collection is an exciting initiative and a step towards greater accessibility as well as the democratization of our rich visual arts tradition. In a sense, it brings this collection 'home' to Canadians. We hope the public enjoys exploring the site, and that visitors of all ages across the country can, more than ever before, appreciate the outstanding outstanding work of our artists.
