A handful of galleries, museums and heritage centres in Western Canada are offering free admission to people affected by the ongoing wildfires in Alberta and British Columbia.
In Edmonton, the Art Gallery of Alberta is offering free admission for wildfire evacuees.
In Calgary, Heritage Park is offering free admission for anyone who has been evacuated. Heritage Park is open from 10 am to 5 pm daily.
The Kamloops Art Gallery (KAG) is offering free admission to the gallery to all BC and Alberta fire evacuees and to anyone affected by wildfires and smoke. The gallery is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Thursdays from 10 am to 8 pm.
“Recognizing the stress and uncertainty faced by those displaced by the wildfires, the KAG aims to provide a safe space where individuals and families can find comfort, inspiration and a brief escape from the current circumstances,” according to the KAG news release. “The gallery offers a welcoming and cool environment with seating, reading materials, and inspiring artworks that offer a small reprieve from ongoing challenges.”
In all cases, just present ID at the admissions desk that shows you're from Jasper or the surrounding area, or another area that has been evacuated.
